Jeremy Mayhew was born and grew up on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. His father, a commercial fisherman, gave him the opportunity to use a video camera for the first time at age eleven. He was assigned to document the summer swordfishing trips. Jeremy proceeded to learn the raw elements of cinema first hand through the lens of the camera, while recording fishing trips for the next three summers (1988, ‘89,’90). He fell in love with the creative potential of sculpting image and sound and began making films from this point forth.
After extensive film and video studies at The University of The Arts, Jeremy graduated with a BFA and a substantial body of work. He continued filmmaking and has garnered film festival attention and awards for his works.
Some of his past film accomplishments include The Discovery, a forty second, fully hand drawn animation, broadcast by WGTW TV in Philadelphia and recently included in the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, Glee, The Onion Game, Stormy Weather, the award-winning short film The Overwhelming Overflow of “NO”, and Purloiner El Magnifico, a film fest favorite.
The award-winning feature documentary, Striker’s Passing, which took over three years to complete, is his most powerful and poetic labor-of-love, as well as one of his proudest achievements.
Jeremy has been working as a freelance media artist for over six years. He has aided in the making of feature narratives and documentaries, as well as shorts and corporate videos, while maintaining a focus on his personal works.
He recently co-founded the company Oceanscape Arts and has expanded his media arts abilities into motion graphics, graphic design, sound design, DVD authoring and web development. |
